About the role

The Senior Project Manager role is part of the operations team working across major project sites. In this role you will drive, grow and operate the Kennards Major Projects (KMP) business in Victoria, overseeing the management of all major projects in the state, as well as the state KMP team to deliver and grow the business.

In addition to being part of the group KMP team, the role works in conjunction with nearby General Hire branches, Specialist divisions and the Business Development team to deliver on the requirements of major projects customers and events.

Your responsibilities are but not limited to;

  • Manage the customer project P&L
  • Plan project staffing/equipment levels in collaboration with the Head of KMP to meet utilisation/profitability targets.
  • Prepare end of month/end of project reports and improvement actions.
  • Utilise business intelligence to identify business improvement opportunities.
  • Coach Project Managers in techniques to achieve budget and maximise revenue, profit and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Project P&L and guide improvement actions and plans.
  • Provide relevant information to prepare and support the business budgeting process.
  • Work with support teams on go to market functions in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure effective operations and project administration requirements to QOM and construction standards.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and servicing is completed by branch network to construction standards.
  • Monitor and action all QOM and construction Audit requirements
  • Monitor and optimise equipment time and finance utilisation to drive ROI & Sustainable Growth across the business.
  • Approve equipment transfers and internal/external rehires
  • Establish and strategically manage required partnerships with third parties as required to meet capability requirements
  • Complete tasks requested by Head of KMP.

About you 

You are a self-driven professional with a strong ability to build and maintain lasting relationships. You thrive in a fast paced environment, have clear, concise, engaging and to the point communication. 

  • Experience in working as a Project Manager or in a middle management role within the hire industry.
  • Highly effective personal organisation and planning skills including goal and priority setting, time management and enhanced project management.
  • Thorough understanding of industry safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of equipment capabilities and capacities/industry people and processes.
  • Adaptable to changing situations and contexts, with experience in managing diversity and ambiguity.
  • Results driven, thrives on achieving and never gives up.
  • Relevant educational qualifications in project management will be well regarded, but are not essential
