Kennards Hire
is seeking a hands on, passionate Financial Controller to provide strong leadership to the financial accounting team and across the finance team.

A critical position within our company to ensure the ongoing integrity and accuracy of the financials for the Group. You will be responsible for maintaining all accounting and related records of the organisation and ensuring they meet all statutory and regulatory requirements for Australia and NZ. The role will also provide management of the Accounts Payable and treasury functions.

About the role:

Reporting to the CFO, you will liaise closely with the leadership team to provide the business with timely and accurate financials. Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

  • Work collaboratively with finance team functions to support business requirements, developments, and improvements
  • Provide a supportive environment for team development and actively mentor key employees
  • Be hands on with the team in the completion of month end across the entire group – coordinate the finance teams to prepare accurate and timely reports P&Ls, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
  • Communicate and discuss queries with stakeholders as required
  • Assisting in the reporting and preparation of the Kennards Hire Board pack and its commentary
  • Responsibility for the production of year end accounts – consolidation, and statutory accounts.
  • Manage audit relationships and activities
  • Preparation and approval of FBT and BAS returns
  • Assist in the preparation of company tax returns.
  • Preparation of the daily cash flow and management of short and long term debt requirements and bank facilities. Focus on improvement in the working capital performance of the business.
  • Preparation of ad hoc reports requested by stakeholders
  • Personal direct responsibility for the completion of various on-going and project matters

About you.

We are a fast-paced company operating with upmost efficiency, the right person must be able to hit the ground running. This role is suited for a hardworking individual who is prepared to collaborate with the team to go the extra mile. In addition you must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications finance and accounting
  • CA or CPA qualifications are required 
  • Proven track record in a medium / large company (across a full range of financial functions)
  • Minimum of 5 years professional working experience as a finance manager or financial controller
  • Proven experience in preparation of management information reports and presentations 
  • Leading analytical abilities, communication skills and leadership
  • Strong technical accounting abilities
  • High level of computer skills in relevant software such as MS Office Suite
